rere – waterfall in te reo Māori
Rere is a small farming community in the foothills of the Huiarau Range, inland from Gisborne. It is named for the iconic Rere Falls and Rere rockslide, both on the Wharekōpae River. Rere School was established in the then Rere Hall in 1914.
The original Rere School was in the Rere Hall. The school moved to its present site in 1939.
